Edit PDF files online for free

PDFira provides a full-featured browser-based PDF editor that runs entirely on your device. Whether you need to update a typo in an existing document, fill out non-interactive sections, highlight crucial passages, or add brand imagery, you can make visual adjustments with pinpoint precision.

Unlike traditional cloud editors that require you to upload your sensitive PDFs to remote servers, PDFira executes all rendering and editing inside your browser using client-side WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your contracts, bank statements, personal records, and confidential files never leave your computer or phone.

Powerful visual editing tools

Edit existing text

Detect text runs in vector PDFs and replace or correct typos directly on the page.

Whiteout & conceal

Cover up sensitive numbers, private details, or obsolete sections with clean whiteout rectangles.

Shapes & annotations

Draw rectangles, circles, lines, and directional arrows with customizable colors and border widths.

Freehand drawing & images

Sketch diagrams or annotations freehand, and insert PNG, JPG, or WebP graphics anywhere.

Editing native vector PDFs vs. scanned documents

PDF documents generally fall into two categories: native vector documents created from Word or design software, and scanned documents that contain full-page images.

• For native vector PDFs: PDFira detects text positions directly, allowing you to select text blocks, cover the original text, and replace it with newly formatted text in standard typefaces.

• For scanned documents and images: Since the page content is a flat image, direct character editing is not possible without OCR reconstruction. However, you can seamlessly use the Whiteout tool to cover outdated details and place fresh text, shapes, or images directly over the blanked area.

Private, browser-based PDF editing

Your privacy is paramount. Traditional online PDF tools upload your documents to third-party conversion servers, which poses severe data privacy and compliance risks. PDFira eliminates this risk entirely: all document parsing, canvas rendering, vector drawing, and PDF saving occur inside your browser's local sandbox. No account registration, no credit card, and no subscriptions required.
